Xi-an Jiaotong – Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a Sino-British joint venture university founded in 2006 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, through a partnership between Xi’an Jiaotong University and University of Liverpool. It delivers English-medium undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across science, engineering, business, architecture, and humanities, combining Chinese higher education regulations with the British academic system. Students receive a degree from the University of Liverpool and, upon meeting Chinese requirements, a degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University. The university emphasizes research-led teaching, international faculty recruitment, and global mobility pathways, positioning itself as one of the largest international joint venture universities in China. Located in Suzhou Industrial Park, XJTLU serves as a model of transnational education integrating global academic standards with China’s innovation-driven development agenda.
